July 30, (THEWILL) — The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Thursday hosted a high-powered delegation from the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), led by its Managing Director, Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang, to discuss strategic investment opportunities in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The meeting, held in Abuja, also featured representatives from MOFI’s Qatari investment partner, Power International Holdings, and focused on exploring collaborative prospects across critical areas of the aviation value chain.
Dr. Takang commended the minister’s recent adoption of the Cape Town Convention (CTC) and Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorisation (IDERA) framework, describing the move as a “masterstroke in reform-minded policy” and a necessary step to unlock capital inflows and develop a competitive aviation industry.
He added that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of building a trillion-dollar economy by leveraging key sectors such as aviation.
Responding, Minister Keyamo expressed appreciation for the visit, noting MOFI’s potential as a bridge between public policy and sustainable private capital.
“Sound policy is the foundation of investment attraction. MOFI is indeed the missing link we’ve been seeking in our drive to reform and reposition the aviation sector. I welcome this opportunity for structured collaboration,” he said.
To consolidate the engagement, both parties agreed to set up a joint working group to refine identified areas of cooperation, assess feasibility, and propose actionable steps for implementation.
The meeting is seen as a major stride towards attracting institutional capital into aviation infrastructure, which remains a priority under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
