A member of the House of Representatives for Kiru/Bebeji Constituency of Kano State, Abdulmumin Jibrin, said on Wednesday that former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has not jettisoned the idea of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Rumours of the former switch to APC gained ground in June following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s national chairman.
There were also reports that President Bola Tinubu had resolved to pick the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain as his running mate in the 2027 election.
But Nigerians began to doubt the authenticity of the claims when Kwankwaso accused the Tinubu administration of neglecting the North in its developmental programmes.

Jibrin, a member of NNPP, spoke on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today.
He said there are chances the NNPP presidential candidate in the 2023 election would join President Tinubu in the APC.
He stressed that the former governor’s Kwankwasiyya Movement is a strong group which cannot be pushed aside in the country’s political permutations.
“As far as joining the APC is concerned, he (Kwankwaso) has always maintained that his doors are open. Our doors are open for discussions. Everything is a possibility,” Jibrin stated.
