The Lagos State Government has handed cheques to 250 additional beneficiaries of the Eko Cares/Eko Listens Financial Assistance Programme.
Dr Afolabi Tajudeen, Special Adviser to Gov. Sanwo-Olu on Political, Legislative & Civic Engagement, confirmed this in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.
He said the cheques were distributed through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement.
Tajudeen explained the programme aims to improve the standard of living of vulnerable Lagos residents.
He described it as an ongoing effort to enhance public confidence in the government’s delivery of services and promises.
“The initiative is designed to put smiles on indigent residents’ faces and enable them to enjoy the true dividends of democracy,” he said.
Tajudeen added that the administration remains dedicated to the welfare and well-being of Lagosians.
He noted that 400 beneficiaries had earlier received financial support under the programme.
The Special Adviser urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely for productive ventures, cautioning against spending on non-essential needs.
He also encouraged enrolment in the Ilera-Eko Health Insurance Scheme under the Lagos State Health Management Agency.
“The Sanwo-Olu administration is committed to providing affordable and accessible healthcare for all residents,” Tajudeen said.
He advised beneficiaries to engage with government policies and programmes to deepen civic awareness and strengthen public participation in governance.
Mr Sholabomi Shashore, Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, urged them to deposit cheques promptly to meet immediate financial needs.
