Lagos Diverts Traffic For Governor’s Inauguration Ceremonies

The Lagos State government in a press release signed by Engr. Abdulhafiz Toriola,Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation issued a travel advisory to commuters and motorists in preparation for the inauguration ceremony of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State and Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor. The Lagos State government in a press release signed by Engr. Abdulhafiz Toriola,
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation issued a travel advisory to commuters and motorists in preparation for the inauguration ceremony of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State and Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor.

The advisory provides traveling routes to minimize inconvenience for the event slated for Monday 29, at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), to plan their movement around the venue from 6.00am – 3pm.

Motorists descending Third Mainland Bridge and those coming from Awolowo Road can make use of King George V Road by Police Headquarters to ascend CMS/Marina Bridge and loop down at Cathedral to link their desired destinations as traffic will be diverted from Onikan Roundabout.

Motorists from Victoria Island can make use of Ozumba Mbadiwe Road to Five(5) Cowries Bridge (Falomo Bridge) to Alfred Rewane Road to Osborne Road and connect desired destinations, alternatively, motorists from Bonny Camp can access CMS/ Marina Bridge via Independence Bridge (Mc Ewen Bridge) and loop it down towards Cathedral Church to link Lagos Island proper via Odunlami Street to connect desired destinations.

Motorists from King George V Road to Awolowo Road through Onikan Roundabout can make use of; Turton Street to Lewis Street to Sandgrouse and proceed on their journey,

From TBS Road to Catholic Mission Street to link Ganiyu Smith Road to connect Igbosere, Sandgrouse to Simpson Street and connect Third Mainland Bridge through Simpson.
Motorists are assured that Security details and Officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, (LASTMA) will be deployed to the affected areas to manage traffic flow.
Citizens are enjoined to cooperate with the traffic Personnel and the interventions provided by the State Government to minimize inconveniences.

Also, about 10 Car Parks have been mapped out to efficiently manage the event and they are highlighted as follows;

VVIP: Tafawa Balewa Square Car Park (Opposite Federal Ministry of Defence )

VIP: Cricket Pitch (Opposite Kings College, Lagos)

VIP: Extension Independence Building Car Park (Remembrance Arcade).

VIP: Extension 2
TBS Banquet Hall Car Park (Opposite Our Saviours Church)

VIP: Extension 3
TBS Marquee Car Park (by Water Board )

VIP: Extension 4
Lagos Lawn Tennis Club (Opposite Race Course)

Bell Event Centre (Campbell Street, Opposite Island Maternity Hospital )

Muson Centre Car Park (by Flag Staff House)
