Lagos Police Nab Driver Accused of Targeting Female Passengers for Robbery and Rape
Crack detectives and operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, have arrested Adedayo Ben Adegbola, who was identified by victims as the driver whose picture appeared in viral online posts connected to multiple cases of rape, defilement, and armed robbery targeting female passengers.
The arrest follows strict directives from the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, to launch a detailed and discreet investigation into complaints from victims.
Arrest and Recovery of Operational Vehicle
The painstaking investigation by the Police Joint Investigation teams resulted in the arrest of the suspect on October 31, 2025, at about 09:40 hrs.

The operational vehicle allegedly used by Adegbola in committing the crimes—a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT—was also recovered and secured as an exhibit for prosecution.
The suspect is currently in police detention as investigation is being intensified to arrest other individuals suspected of involvement in the crimes.
The Commissioner of Police reassured the public of the Command’s firm commitment to protecting all residents, ensuring justice for survivors, and maintaining security. The Command urges any victims of the suspect to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to provide relevant information, assuring that their identities will be properly protected.
