Lexus To Stop Production Of The LC Coupe And Convertible After The 2026 Model Year

Lexus has officially confirmed that it will stop production of the V8-powered LC coupe and convertible after the 2026 model year.

In a statement, a Lexus spokesperson said, “Production of the Lexus LC 500 will officially end after the 2026 model year. Lexus is constantly evaluating its model mix and strategy to optimize product line options and to meet the needs of our customers and align with consumer demand.”

Lexus presented this sports car at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Production began in 2017 for the 2018 model year. The Lexus LC convertible debuted a year later in Detroit.

The LC debuted with a 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 471 horsepower. Lexus also offered a hybrid version, combining a 3.5-liter V6 with two electric motors for a combined output of 354 hp, but the company only sold 251 examples during its existence before it ceased production after 2025.

The standard LC wasn’t much of a hit either. Even in its best year (2021), Lexus only sold 2,782 units, with fewer than 1,300 examples finding new homes in 2021.
