Lions’ D.J. Reed isn’t happy with one of his ‘Madden NFL 26’ ratings

Lions’ D.J. Reed isn’t happy with one of his ‘Madden NFL 26’ ratings

Detroit Lions cornerback D.J. Reed believes EA Sports disrespected him in one rating in Madden NFL 26.

During a Lions’ scrimmage last week, Reed chased down running back Jahmyr Gibbs to prevent a touchdown. The veteran cornerback showed off his underrated speed on the play, and reminded reporters on Sunday that Madden has his speed too low in the new game.

“Tell Madden,” Reed said after practice Sunday in Allen Park via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “Yeah, tell Madden to watch these practices. … They had my speed at a 90, which is abysmal.”

Reed’s teammates were also shocked by his speed when watching back the film of the play.

“Reed chased down Gibbs and shoved him out of bounds around the 30-yard line. Later, when the defense watched film of the play, one of Reed’s teammates asked the question that was on everyone’s mind: What was your 40-yard dash time?”

Instead of bringing back Carlton Davis, who signed with the New England Patriots this offseason, the Lions signed Reed to a three-year deal worth $48 million to serve as the other starting boundary corner opposite Terrion Arnold.

During his three-year tenure with the New York Jets, Reed started 46 games and established himself as one of the best No.2 cornerbacks in the league, playing opposite Sauce Gardner. Reed has allowed under a 60% completion rate when targeted in three of the last four seasons and is also a solid run defender.

Now in Detroit, Reed will be looking to be the missing piece in the team’s secondary that elevates them into an elite unit. Though his abilities in coverage and run defense are fantastic, don’t sleep on the 28-year-old’s speed making a huge difference in the Lions’ secondary in 2025.
