Man questions Hilda Baci’s plan to cook world’s largest jollof rice: “What if rain falls?”

A Nigerian man has sparked massive online reactions after openly questioning celebrity chef Hilda Baci ’s ambitious plan to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice using a gigantic six-by-six meter pot, a Guinness World Record attempt that has captured public attention.

The concerns were raised in a viral TikTok video posted by user @sleekpapi_, who pointed out several potential challenges the chef and her team might face when preparing such a massive meal. According to the man, one of the biggest worries is the possibility of sudden rainfall, which could ruin the entire pot of rice. He asked how it would be possible to ensure even cooking and spice distribution when dealing with such a massive volume of food.

“What if it rains? This pot is very big. How are they going to cover it quickly when they need to open it again and again to add spices?” he asked. “What if a bird flies past and drops something inside? What if someone falls in—not Hilda, since she has experience, but one of her workers who may not be used to it? I see them using ladders to climb and stir, and what if someone slips? That would be a disaster.”

He also joked about the struggle of handling the heavy spoon, saying: “Even in this test run, you can see the stress. The spoon is so long and heavy. When the food rises higher and begins to burn at the bottom, how will she turn it well? How will she make sure all the ingredients spread evenly? And how will the heat cook everything properly?”
