In recent hours, Nigerian media has been abuzz with conflicting reports over the incident involving Fuji legend K1 De Ultimate and ValueJet staff, which led to the singer being denied boarding and nearly struck by an aircraft.

According to a press release from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the altercation began when K1 attempted to board a ValueJet flight (VK 201) to Lagos while carrying a liquid substance, allegedly alcohol, which is prohibited on the airline. Despite being warned, he reportedly refused to comply.

FAAN further stated that in the process of being asked to step aside, the singer spilled alcohol on a ValueJet staff member.

Amid this controversy, K1, who is also rumored to be facing marital issues, was captured in a viral video walking dangerously close to the plane as it prepared for takeoff, appearing to dodge the moving aircraft.

Following the incident, two ValueJet pilots, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Olobawere suspended for breaching safety protocols during the flight.

Meet Captain Oluranti Ogoyi 
Oluranti, fondly known as “Rantilicious” by friends and colleagues, is the daughter of Nigerian politician Senator Felix Kola Ogunwale, who represented Osun Central from 2003 to 2007.

A seasoned pilot with over a decade of experience, Captain Oluranti joined ValueJet after spending several years flying with Arik Air. She was promoted to full captain in September 2021, following years of service as a first officer.

Her captaincy was officially recognized by Arik Air’s management, including CEO Captain Roy Ilegbodu, Director of Flight Operations Captain Adetokunbo Adekunbi, and then-Chief Pilot, now NCAA boss, Captain Chris Najomo.
