Musiala Nears Comeback, Johnson Transfer Talks Gather Pace, Liverpool Makes Coaching Change

German midfielder, Jamal Musiala is edging closer to a long-awaited return after months on the sidelines, with encouraging signs emerging from Bayern Munich.

Musiala has not featured for either club or Germany since the summer, but a carefully managed comeback plan is now in motion.

According to Bild, Musiala will be reintroduced gradually to avoid any risk of relapse. The expectation is that he will rejoin full training in January, with the possibility of short substitute appearances before the end of the month if progress continues as planned.

Musiala’s workload will be increased step by step, with the clear aim of reaching peak condition in time for the Champions League knockout stages. Musiala is said to be determined to return at full strength and play a decisive role when Europe’s elite competition resumes.

Elsewhere, transfer talks are moving swiftly as Crystal Palace push to secure the signature of Brennan Johnson. Palace have agreed a £35 million fee with Tottenham Hotspur, although the winger has yet to give his final approval.

Sky Sports News reports that negotiations have accelerated significantly over the past 24 hours. However, Palace are not alone in the race. Bournemouth are also monitoring the situation closely, having registered their interest earlier this week.

Johnson joined Spurs in 2023 following a £47.5 million move from Nottingham Forest. Since then, the 24-year-old has made 107 appearances, scoring 27 goals, including a memorable winner in the Europa League final in May.

At Anfield, change has arrived behind the scenes as Liverpool part ways with set-piece coach Aaron Briggs midway through a difficult campaign. The decision comes during a season in which Liverpool share the poorest set-piece defensive record across Europe’s major leagues.

The Reds have already conceded 12 goals from set plays in the Premier League this term. Their latest lapse came from a corner during a 2-1 home victory over bottom-placed Wolves, highlighting an issue that has plagued their campaign so far.
