THE National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has stepped up efforts to modernise Nigeria’s insurance industry by forging new strategic alliances with the FinTech Association of Nigeria and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
The partnerships are expected to accelerate digital adoption, expand financial inclusion, and position the sector as a stronger contributor to national economic growth.
At a meeting with the FinTech Association in Lagos, Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, underscored NAICOM’s vision of using technology to revolutionise insurance service delivery.
He noted that wider adoption of digital solutions would rebuild public trust, improve transparency, and enhance protection for policyholders.

The FinTech Association, led by Africa FinTech Network President, Segun Aina, pledged support for NAICOM’s digital transformation drive, stressing that technology-driven solutions could significantly expand the reach of insurance in Nigeria.
In a separate engagement with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) in Abuja, Mr. Omosehin highlighted the importance of collaboration with private sector stakeholders to unlock the industry’s potential.
Discussions centred on the recently enacted Nigeria Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, which consolidates outdated regulations and introduces far-reaching reforms.
The Commissioner proposed joint initiatives with NESG, including data sharing, financial inclusion programmes, and the creation of a dedicated insurance working group within the organisation.
Both meetings emphasised NAICOM’s resolve to deepen stakeholder collaboration under the new administration.
