Nantes Hold Lyon To 1-1 Draw Despite Lacazette Goal

March 18, (THEWILL) – Lyon had to settle for another draw against Nantes in Ligue 1 as their struggles continued with a third consecutive draw.

The Groupama Stadium failed to provide the spark the home side needed, as Nantes took an early lead in the second minute, with a lucky goal deflected off Castello Lukeba. However, Lyon gradually regained control of the match and levelled the score thanks to captain Lacazette’s 150th goal for the club.

Both goalkeepers, Riou and Lafont, were impressive in denying further goals for their respective sides. Unfortunately, Lyon suffered a setback when Lacazette had to be substituted due to injury in the 65th minute.

The match ended with Lyon failing to mount any serious threats in the closing stages, while Nantes missed several chances on the counter-attack, with Moses Simon playing for 68 minutes before he was substituted.

Lyon’s hopes for a higher position in the league table take a hit as they remain stuck in mid-table, with Nantes sitting just above the relegation zone. The two teams will face each other again in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France in April, where they will be looking for a clear winner.
