Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Maj.-Gen. Abdul Khalifah, has emphasized that the academy’s curriculum is strategically crafted to prepare officers to address Nigeria’s pressing security issues.
He made these remarks during the ongoing Exercise Camp Highland for Army Cadets of Regular Course 72 and Short Service Course 48, held on Saturday in Jos.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the exercise is taking place at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Shere Hills, Jos. Khalifah explained that Exercise Camp Highland serves as the culminating practical outdoor training for graduating cadets.
“This exercise is the final field training for our cadets, focusing on adventure fitness that aligns with our curriculum’s objectives,” Khalifah stated.
“The training here complements the academy’s goals, enhancing cadets’ stamina, resilience, and ability to tackle challenges head-on.”
He highlighted that the activities, including obstacle courses on land and water, are designed to mold cadets into capable officers ready to safeguard the nation.
“These exercises prepare them to face real-world scenarios and emerge as effective defenders of Nigeria,” he added.
Khalifah noted that the 470 cadets participating in the exercise are set to graduate from the NDA by September. He expressed confidence that the training would ensure they become disciplined and professional officers upon commissioning into the Nigerian Armed Forces.
