Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has conceded that Nigeria truly needs assistance and help in the fight against terrorism and extremism but definitely not from those he described as religious bigots, racists and enablers of genocide globally.
The Kaduna-based Islamic scholar who was reacting to the Christmas Day airstrikes by the United States in Sokoto State targeting terrorists and bandits, said though the country needs foreign help to fight terrorism, such help should not come from America whom he described as terrorists themselves.

In a post on his Facebook page on Sunday, Gumi said:
“The Argument is simple: Do we need help? Yes, every nation needs help for its security. But not from criminals who don’t respect international law, racists, religious bigots, and a known international genocide enabler.”
In a follow up post repeating a comment he posted on Saturday, Gumi said:
“As a principle, no nation should allow its land to be a theater of war. And no nation should allow its neighbors to be their enemies.
“If Nigeria wants military assistance, China, Turkey, and Pakistan can do the job effectively. The US involvement in Nigeria will attract the real anti-US forces, making our land the theater of war. The USA’s involvement in Nigeria, citing coming to ‘protect Christians’, will ultimately polarize our nation and infringe on our sovereignty.”
