Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Crude Oil Theft and Management Committee, Hope Uzodimma, revealed that the committee is partnering with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to significantly enhance Nigeria’s crude oil output.
The ambitious goal is to achieve a production rate of three million barrels per day, aligning with the directive set by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja following a private meeting with governors from oil-producing states, alongside senior officials from the NNPCL and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Uzodimma expressed optimism about recent progress.
“We’ve noted a promising rise in crude oil production, driven by the collaborative efforts of industry leaders, security forces, and state stakeholders,” he stated.
The governor highlighted that the meeting was convened to review updates from the newly appointed leadership of NNPCL and NUPRC.
“We are pleased with the strategies presented and the ongoing efforts by NNPCL,” Uzodimma remarked, emphasizing the committee’s commitment to further align with industry leaders to meet the national production target.
He also praised President Tinubu’s leadership and recent reforms in the oil and gas sector, noting, “These reforms are starting to deliver tangible outcomes, positioning Nigeria to meet its ambitious production goals.”
The committee remains focused on sustaining this upward trajectory through continued engagement and strategic collaboration.
