Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer believes Arsenal are finally ready to end their 22-year wait for the Premier League title, saying he “can’t see a weakness” in Mikel Arteta’s well-drilled side after their convincing 2-0 win over Burnley .
The Gunners’ ninth straight victory in all competitions and seventh consecutive clean sheet extended their lead at the top of the table, strengthening claims that this could be their season of redemption.
Impenetrable defence driving Arsenal’s charge
Arsenal went seven points clear after goals from Viktor Gyökeres and Declan Rice at Turf Moor, equalling a club record for consecutive clean sheets.
Their defensive strength has been the bedrock of Arteta’s project, with the team now targeting Chelsea’s record of just 15 goals conceded in the 2004/05 campaign.

“They’ve scored again from a set-piece, but there’s been so much more than that in their performance,” Shearer told BBC Sport.
“I like the way they’re using [Riccardo] Calafiori and [Jurrien] Timber in advanced positions to create overloads and win set-piece opportunities. I can’t see a weakness.”
‘No longer soft-centred’ — pundits praise Arsenal’s maturity
Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha commended Arsenal’s evolution, noting how Arteta’s men have shed their reputation for fragility.
“If it needs to be a fight, it will be a fight. If it needs to be a footballing game, it can be that too,” Onuoha said, adding that their depth and mentality make them serious contenders this time around.
Gary Neville also endorsed the Gunners’ title credentials. “Arsenal are reliable, you can trust them. This is your title, Arsenal. I’ve never really felt that sure before,” he told Sky Sports.
Arteta’s ruthless consistency key to title ambition
Arteta lauded his players’ first-half dominance and defensive composure after the Burnley win. “We gave nothing away, and that was the platform to win it,” he said.
With three consecutive second-place finishes now behind them and a growing cushion over Liverpool and Manchester City, Arsenal appear to have found the balance, belief and resilience required to finally reclaim the Premier League crown.
