August 02, (THEWILL) — Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) Corps, have arrested a notorious ex-convict, Paul James, and one Alex Emmanuel, for allegedly stealing and attempting to sell two motorcycles.
He was arrested during the patrol operation of officers attached to Oke-Ogun Area Command, where they met James with a bike and asked for its documents, but he ran away under the pretence of retrieving the documents.
Spokesperson of So-Safe, Assistant Commander, Moruf Yusuf, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, at the weekend.
Yusuf said that the officers waited for James in vain to return, but later traced him to Idi-Ori, where the corps found another motorbike in his possession, which he confessed to having stolen from Ibarapa in Oyo State.
The So-Safe PRO also explained that the suspect was nabbed with an accomplice, Alex Emanuel, 31, who shared the same residential area at Ileese Awo, Abeokuta, with James, to assist him in selling the bike.
Yusuf said that James admitted to committing crimes, including stealing a motorbike in 2019 at Tobolo, which he sold to a man named Sulaiman at Ita-Oshin and stealing another motorcycle in 2013 at Ologun Eru, Ibadan, Oyo State, which he sold to a friend, Ifa Ogunlana.
The So-Safe Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, mentioned items recovered from the suspects to include two unregistered Bajaj motorcycles, one itel Android phone, and two small phones.
Ganzallo said that suspects and the exhibits had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Zonal Dragon Tactical Unit at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
