Oleksandr Usyk accepts Tyson Fury’s 70/30 split demands for undisputed heavyweight title fight on condition he donates £1million to Ukraine

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have agreed terms for an undisputed heavyweight fight, the World Boxing Association has confirmed.

The two champions have been locked in negotiations for months over a bout which would crown the first unified heavyweight king since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

There were fears the fight could fall through after Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk revealed a breakdown in talks on Friday.

The WBA were set to order a fight between its defending champion Usyk and mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois unless an agreement was reached with Fury before 10pm on Friday.

However, the governing body has now revealed an eleventh-hour deal was struck between Fury and Usyk after a series of exchanges on social media.

Boxing fans are now closer than ever to seeing the highly-anticipated event on April 29 at Wembley Stadium.

A statement on Twitter read: “WBA President Gilberto Mendoza received confirmation from Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury’s teams that there is an agreement to make the unification fight. They request time to work on the contracts to close the deal.”

WBC champion Fury took to social media on Friday, demanding a 70/30 split in his favour, otherwise he would walk away from the table.

IBF, WBA and WBO champion Usyk called his bluff and accepted Fury’s offer, but stated the unbeaten Gypsy King must donate £1m to the Ukrainian appeal, and will have to forfeit one per cent of his purse for every day he doesn’t sign the contract.

Speaking in a video shared to his 1.8m million Instagram followers, Usyk said: “Greedy belly, I accept your offer.

“70/30 split the fight with you on April 29 at Wembley.

“But you will promise to donate to Ukraine immediately after the fight £1million.

“And every day of your delay you will pay one per cent of your purse to the Ukrainian people. Deal?”

Fury immediately responded to Usyk, as he delivered an X-rated response on his Instagram story.

The Gypsy King stated: “Usyk, you little s*** bag.

“Sign the contract, get your money, and get f***** up.

“You little s*** house. You must have saw the size of me and s*** yourself you little gappy-tooth, ugly b******d. Sign the contract.”

A lawyer for Usyk confirmed to Reuters that an agreement was struck on the basis of a 70/30 purse split in Fury’s favour.

Fury previously rejected offers of 50/50 and 60/40 in favour of the winner from Usyk’s camp.
