Order AGF to discontinue Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, seek political solution – Ejimakor to Tinubu

Order AGF to discontinue Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, seek political solution – Ejimakor to Tinubu

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has urged President Bola Tinubu to direct the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, Lateef Fagbemi, to discontinue with his client’s trial.

Ejimakor said Tinubu should order the AGF to withdraw Kanu’s case and see if it can be resolved politically.

Addressing journalists within the premises of the Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday, Ejimakor said Kanu’s trial will clock 10 years on October 14.

He said: “Let’s keep in mind that 14 October is here and it makes it 10 years since this case has been pending.

“The matter has become too complicated for the judiciary to handle which under score our core point, that this trial is more political than legal.

“This is a matter for the executive branch to settle with a little slide of hand, it’s not a matter to be limited to the wiggle room of the court of law. There is a lot of wide space for politicians to resolve political issues that border on agitation.

“Why this one has become irretractable is very disappointing. There is a thesis that is irretractable that Kanu is an Igbo man and it’s becoming more valid by the day.

“So what is playing out in court now is nothing but the best evidence that this matter has gone beyond the province of the judiciary by the executive branch.

“Again, I call on President Tinubu to direct the Attorney-General to discontinue this prosecution because the core issue (Self-Determination) is political and thus outside the province of the judiciary.”
