Osun PDP passes vote of no-confidence on deputy governor over alleged anti-party activities

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency, Osun State, has expressed a lack of trust in Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, accusing him of engaging in activities that undermine the party.

A communiqué, signed by Adesoji Adegoke, the party’s Financial Secretary, former Deputy Speaker Ropo Oyewale, and 27 other members, was released to journalists on Tuesday in Osogbo, detailing the vote of no confidence.

The group also criticized Prof. Wale Oladipo, a former National Secretary and PDP Board of Trustees member, for allegedly aligning with opposition figures.

Specifically, the party pointed to Adewusi and Oladipo’s meetings with Taofeek Ajilesoro, a House of Representatives member who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Additionally, the PDP in Ife East Local Government lost faith in its chairman, Olasunkanmi Makinde, for similar reasons.

In response, Oladipo dismissed the accusations, calling the group “a band of jesters” who lack the authority to make such claims.

“I am an Ife man; I cannot be an enemy of another Ife person,” he told reporters, emphasizing his role and that of Adewusi in expanding the party’s reach.

“I challenge those who claimed to pass a vote of no confidence in us to address the media and pronounce their decision,” he added.

The state PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, urged all parties to maintain peace and follow the party’s internal conflict resolution processes.

In a statement, Bisi emphasized, “The State Chapter of the PDP reiterates its respect and high regard for leaders of the party, particularly His Excellency, Kola Adewumi, the Deputy Governor of the state, and Prof. Wale Oladipo, member of the PDP Board of Trustees.”

He warned that actions undermining party authority or bypassing established procedures would face consequences, stating, “Our party is governed by laws, guidelines, and established processes. Every member is, therefore, expected to conduct themselves accordingly.”

Bisi further directed members and stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency to suspend any actions that could escalate tensions, reinforcing the need for unity and adherence to party protocols.
