Operatives of Ikoyi-Ile Division in Oyo State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies and vigilant local intelligence, on Saturday, arrested six suspects after dismantling a group of suspected armed criminals at Igbo-Awe Forest, near Iboran Village, Ikoyi-Ile, Orire Local Government Area.
Recovered items were an AK-47 rifle with 15 rounds of ammunition, an Infinix Android phone, an Itel phone, four empty AK-47 magazines, one Nigerian Army jungle hat and army life jacket, and a pair of army uniforms.
This operation, according to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, CSP Adewale Osifeso, “disrupted a criminal network known for armed robbery, kidnapping, and violent offences that terrorised the community.”
The PPRO said: “These items indicate the suspects’ organised criminal intent and preparedness for chaos.
“The Oyo State Police Command remains committed to combating such threats and ensuring residents live free from fear.”
CSP Osifeso urged the public to report any suspicious activities promptly to the state police command by calling its control room numbers 08081768614, 09054133071 and 09061299291, or call response centre on toll-free line 615.
