Plateau Guber: M’Belt Youths Tip PDP’s Mutfwang As Next Governor

JOS – Middle Belt Youth Forum, an umbrella body of youths groups from North Central States of Nigeria has thrown its weights overwhelming support behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, Caleb Mutfwang to win the Governorship polls on the Plateau come this Saturday Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The Middle Belt Youth group Acting National President Captain Brent Kane made this declaration in Jos at a media interaction with newsmen.

According to him, the position taken by his group on Who becomes the next governor of Plateau state is in view of the fact that the umbilical cord of PDP is buried in Plateau State as their forebearer and torchbearer, Late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar (The Emanicipator), midwifed the birth of the party and led her to victory in 1999 which as a resultant consequence created a platform for self-expression and participation of their people within the political space.

“As a body that strives for equity, justice and fairness, our resolve to place our identity above every other sentiment as a precursor for our survival, distinguishes our struggle from mundane agitations fueled by narrow mindedness and self-centered pedestrianism of power mongers cloaked as patriotism,” Kane stressed.

“The survival of our people amidst carefully orchestrated conspiracies by our adversaries mandates us as their voice to speak in defense of our freedom and liberty without which we cease to exist as humans created in the image of God with inherent worth, dignity, and integrity.” He hinted.

Capt. Brent Kane, tongue lashed
Sheikh Yahaya Jingir on his recent comments on the outcome of the recently concluded Presidential election in Nigeria and the forthcoming gubernatorial election on the Plateau.

According to him, “the national body of the Middle-Belt Youth Forum is aghast and utterly disgusted by the vituperative and highly toxic tirades of Sheikh Yahaya Jingir on the recently concluded Presidential elections and the forthcoming general elections in Plateau State’

He wondered why Sheikh Jingir has superimposed himself as the spiritual cum political head of Muslims in Northern Nigeria with a surreptitious intent of overrunning Plateau State through a kangaroo imposition of charlatans whose penchant and obsession for power blinds them to the self-conceited stratagems of their employers against their kith and kin.

“The message of sheikh Jingir to his followers in Jos on IZALA TV which has gone viral on social media, not only insults the collective sensibility and identity of Christians but denigrates them as an inferior class in the political equation of Nigeria and therefore not to be taken as equals He based his erroneous submission on the controversial outcome of the 2023 Presidential elections which the APC candidate purportedly won.”

According to him, “It is a fact beyond contradiction that the outcome of the Presidential election which is being challenged in court has been condemned by local and international observers as the credibility of the process was compromised by the electoral umpire (INEC), who promised to transmit results from polling units through the BVAS but clandestinely shut down their server for over 24 hours while transmission and collation was ongoing with the intent to rig the election.

“Without holding brief for the Labour party which we overwhelmingly supported without any apology whatsoever, the APC candidate who only secured 25% in 24 States without the FCT falls short of the constitutional requirement to be declared President.”

He noted that Plateau and other Middle-Belt States have been under siege for over two hundred years from jihadists, marauders, slave raiders, terrorists and recently herdsmen, leaving blood and tears in their trail on our land. The mass burials we have been manacled to endure in our various communities within the Middle-Belt year in year out needs no further elucidation.

“Our ancestors resisted every form of incursion into our territory to impose any religion and a way of life inconsistent with the culture and tradition of our people and triumphed. Let every bigot who seethes to witness the demise of our heritage know that no external aggression can ever conquer the warriors on the hills of Plateau.”

He condemned the ploy by Yahaya Jingir to project a narrative that only the Kanke people and by extension the Ngas people voted for the Muslim-Muslim ticket and therefore should be trusted by the Muslims in the State is another dangerous tactic to sow seeds of discord and dissent among Plateau people to pave way for the eventual takeover of their land by their foes.

” We must resist the temptation to yield to clannish and ethnocentric feuds which are daily sowed by our adversaries to pitch us against each other and open a gulf for the enemy to infiltrate.”

Kane also notes with contempt, the recent visit of Alhaji Kashim Shetima, Vice Presidential candidate elect of the APC to no other place but Plateau State shortly after the presidential election.

“We are aware of the series of meetings he held with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jos with a view to rig the gubernatorial election in favour of the APC which will be sternly resisted by Plateau people. “

“To further accentuate his disdain for Plateau people, upon arrival in Jos, he went straight to visit Sheikh Yahaya Jingir without paying any respect whatsoever to the Gbong Gwom Jos who is the chairman of the Plateau State Traditional Council. This insult and denigration of our traditional institution reveals the desperation of the APC to isolate the indigenous people of Plateau from the political schematic of Nigeria and enthrone strangers as leaders over our people which will never see the light of day.” Kane stressed.
