Police kill 3 suspected kidnappers, rescue victim in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command says it has killed three suspected kidnappers and recovered one AK 47 rifle, one magazine rifle and seven live amunition in a shootout at Shanga area of the state.

A statement by the command’s public relations officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said te Divisional Police Officer, Shanga, promptly mobilised a combined team of policemen and vigilantes to engage the suspects and killed three of them while others fled to the forest.

“Intelligence received revealed that a gang of suspected kidnappers was sighted in the nearby forest along Tungargiwa/ Saminaka road, planning on how to kidnap commuters flying the road,” the statement said.

At another development, Abubakar said a gang of kidnappers armed with weapons invaded Kesan community in Shanga Local Government Area of the state and kidnapped one Abdulmumini Alhaji Ahmadu, 25.

“During the rescue operation, the victim was shot on his left leg by the suspects and he is being treated at a medical facility in the area,” the statement added.
