Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 952 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
However, it declined promotions for 176 retired officers and three others presumed deceased.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, announced the decisions, which were made during the first Plenary Meeting of the Commission’s 6th Board.
He noted that the promotion approvals have been sent to the Inspector-General of Police for action.
PSC Chairman Hashimu Argungu congratulated the promoted officers but issued a stern warning.
“Going forward, police personnel must uphold nationalism and adhere strictly to national laws and police regulations,” Argungu stated.
He emphasized that the Commission would not tolerate unauthorized actions or deviations from established protocols for addressing grievances.
Argungu reiterated the PSC’s dedication to safeguarding officers’ career advancement, ensuring it remains unhindered and equitable.
