Ramadan: Adeleke preaches renewed commitment to a just society

As Muslims across the world commence the 1445AH Ramadan fast, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called for a renewed commitment to building a just society, describing justice as the foundation of a safe and prosperous nation.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of this year’s Ramadan, noting that the fasting period is a sacred time for devotion and spiritual renewal.

Adeleke urged Muslims to observe the holy month in accordance with the dictates of Allah (SWT), reminding the faithful of the values of self-discipline, communion, sacrifice and tolerance embodied in the fasting period.

“I congratulate Muslims in the state and beyond for witnessing yet another Ramadan period. Ramadan offers a message of self-discipline and spiritual renewal. It is a season that reminds us of the values of patience and the essence of cheerful giving,” the governor said.

“For 29 or 30 days, we have a remarkable opportunity to strengthen our faith and dedicate ourselves to impacting lives by feeding the poor and helping those in need. Let us use this season to renew bonds and foster harmony in our communities by coming together during the breaking of fast.”

The governor also commended the people of Osun for their resilience amid what he described as challenges arising from the alleged unlawful seizure of local government funds over the past year. He assured residents that his administration does not take their sacrifices for granted and remains committed to delivering good governance.

“In the last one year, things have not been easy, as those who believe they have power chose to punish Osun people for political reasons. Despite the challenges, we have not wavered in our obligation to pay salaries, and many projects that will benefit our people are ongoing,” he said.

Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of the state, stating that no obstacle would deter his administration from fulfilling its mandate.

“From my first day in office, I made a commitment to serve our people, and no matter the hurdles, I will not depart from that promise. Osun people can continue to trust in our administration to deliver, irrespective of the circumstances,” he added.

He further urged residents to renew their faith in his leadership as the state approaches another election cycle, pledging to sustain the progress made so far.
