…Hits EU Over Illegal Migration
…Says UN Not Living Up To Potential
President Donald Trump has told world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly that recognising a Palestinian state at this stage would amount to rewarding Hamas for its violent campaign.
Addressing the assembly on Tuesday, Trump said such recognition would send the wrong message at a time when the group continues to hold hostages and fuel the Gaza conflict.
“Recognising a Palestinian state now would be too great a reward for Hamas’s atrocities,” Trump declared, drawing applause from delegates.
The President called for immediate action to stop the fighting in Gaza, stressing that peace efforts must prioritise the safe release of captives.
“Those who want peace should unite behind one message: release the hostages now,” Trump said.
“We want all the hostages back, not one not two, but all of them,” he added.
Trump noted that several influential countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, had recently announced recognition of Palestinian statehood.
He criticised the move as counterproductive, warning it would empower Hamas instead of fostering genuine peace in the region.
Trump blamed Hamas for the failed negotiations toward peace but stated that negotiations must succeed to prevent further bloodshed.
“We have to stop the Gaza war immediately,” he declared.
Trump criticised Europe’s migration policies, calling the open-border migration a “failed experiment.” He accused the UN of financing what he described as “invasions” of Western countries by supporting migrant programmes.
“The UN is supposed to stop invasions, not create them and not finance them,” he said.
Trump singled out Europe as being in “serious trouble,” accusing leaders of ignoring the security risks of uncontrolled immigration.
“Your countries are going to hell,” Trump told delegates. He cited prison statistics in Germany, Austria, Greece and Switzerland to argue that European nations were already overwhelmed by illegal immigration.
On climate policy, Trump described global warming as the “greatest con job ever perpetrated in the world,” urging countries to abandon what he labelled the “green scam.”
“All these climate change predictions made by the UN and others were wrong and made by stupid people. Get away from the green scam or your country will fail,” he said.
According to the BBC, the comments drew visible discomfort from parts of the hall, with some delegates shifting in their seats and others laughing nervously.
Trump sharply criticised the United Nations, accusing it of offering “empty words” rather than real solutions.
“The UN was not there for us,” he said, recalling his administration’s efforts to negotiate peace in Gaza and Ukraine.
“What is the purpose of the United Nations? It’s not even coming close to living up to its potential,” he argued.
Furthermore, Trump warned Iran against pursuing nuclear weapons, calling it the “world’s leading sponsor of terror,” and said U.S. strikes earlier this year had targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities.
He accused Venezuela of enabling drug gangs and noted recent U.S. strikes against alleged drug boats in international waters.
On Ukraine, Trump reiterated his view that the war should have been a “quick little skirmish,” insisting that European countries must do more to impose sanctions on Russia if they want to end the fighting.
“Europe has to step it up, you cannot claim to be fighting Russia and be buying oil from them” he said.
Trump insisted the United States was entering a “golden age.” He credited his leadership for ending “seven wars” since returning to the White House, for bringing crime under control in the capital. Washington D.C. through a National Guard deployment, and for reshaping global trade through tariffs.
“Peace cannot be built on terror, and it will not come from empty declarations, it must come from strength, from justice, and from the truth.” he told the assembly.
