Former Nigerian actress and US-based nurse practitioner, Regina Askia-Williams, has revealed that she recently won a legal battle over what she described as a predatory business contract aimed at causing her significant financial loss.
In a detailed statement shared on her Facebook page, Askia said the dispute began when a salesman allegedly lured her into purchasing overpriced medical equipment for her clinic through what she called a “scam deluxe package.” According to her, the seller introduced fake partner companies, made multiple promises, and presented a contract she later discovered to be misleading.
The actress alleged that the salesman’s very first question — “Do you own your home?” — made his true intentions clear, suggesting that he was seeking collateral rather than a business partnership. She also claimed she was pressured into signing a personal guarantee despite operating as an LLC.
The equipment, which she said consisted of two machines costing “less than a semester of community college,” was allegedly sold to her at the price of a luxury car, with assurances that the agreement could be renegotiated if issues arose.
“They pushed two $600 machines from China for the price of a luxury car, slapped on a magical money-making “formula,” and promised renegotiations if it all went left. Guess what? It went left, upside down, crashed, burned, and exploded.
“Suddenly, fees were flying everywhere. Automatic withdrawals, late fees, “insurance,” mystery charges draining accounts like vampires at a blood bank. And instead of renegotiating, like they promised, they sued me for $260,000,” she wrote.
Askia said several lawyers advised her to declare bankruptcy due to the complexity of the case, but the court later ruled decisively in her favour. According to her, the judge dismissed the suit after finding “no evidence” to support the company’s claims.
The former actress described the judgment as a major relief after months of stress and anxiety, noting that she was grateful to come out of the ordeal “unbroken” and “unbothered.”
She also issued a warning to other clinic owners and healthcare practitioners, urging them to seek legal advice before signing any business documents.
