ABUJA – The House of Representatives has made a swift U-turn on its earlier decision to adjourn sittings for one week, announcing that it will now reconvene for plenary on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
The new development was contained in a statement signed by Rep. Akin Rotimi, mnipr, the Spokesman of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday evening.
According to the statement, the decision to bring forward the resumption date followed positive outcomes from engagements and interventions at various levels of government on issues that prompted the initial adjournment.
It would be recalled that the House had, earlier during Tuesday’s plenary, resolved to adjourn for one week to allow for further consultations and executive, legislative dialogue on the non-release of funds appropriated in the 2024/2025 budget, as well as agitations by contractors affected by the delay.
However, barely five hours after the decision, the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Esq., issued a notification to Members announcing the new resumption date. He explained that the early reconvening would enable the Leadership to brief lawmakers on progress made in resolving the issues and to address other matters of urgent national importance.
At Wednesday’s session, the House is expected to formally rescind its earlier adjournment resolution and resume full legislative business.
Members have been urged to make the necessary arrangements to ensure their attendance at the plenary.
