fubara By Bassey Willie, Port Harcourt The chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr, James A James, has been declared winner of Saturday’s poll in Opobo/Nkoro local government area, where the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, hails from.
The chairman of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Mr Michael Odey, while announcing the result on Sunday, said the APC candidate polled 37,822 votes to win the election.
Fubara did not participate in the local government election.

Fubara and the state House of Assembly members were suspended from office after President Bola Tinubu declared state of emergency in the state amid worsening political crisis.
The President also appointed the retired Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas as the Sole Administrator of the state.
