Sanwo-Olu names Ogunsan LSSTF Boss, appoints Ogala LASU Council Chairman

The Executive Secretary/CEO, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan as appoints Babatunde Ogala chairman of newly constituted Lagos State University Governing Council

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed a security expert, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF). Ogunsan was appointed in line with the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s drive to continue to strengthen the security apparatus of Lagos State and its effectiveness for the protection of the citizens. According to a circular issued and signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, on Friday, the appointment of Ogunsan takes immediate effect. Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended the erstwhile Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun, for his service to Lagos State. “Mr Governor uses this medium to extend his sincere appreciation to Hon. Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun, the erstwhile Executive Secretary, for his formidable and invaluable contributions to the development and achievements of the Security Trust Fund, while wishing him well.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu , has approved the appointment of Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, a renowned security expert, as the new Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).

The announcement, contained in a circular signed by the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, on Friday, takes immediate effect.

According to the statement, Ogunsan’s appointment reflects the Sanwo-Olu administration’s renewed commitment to strengthening the security architecture of the state and ensuring the safety of residents.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Executive Secretary, Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun, for his “formidable and invaluable contributions” to the growth and achievements of the LSSTF, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.

In a related development, the governor constituted a new Governing Council for the Lagos State University (LASU), with Mr Babatunde Ogala (SAN) appointed as Chairman.

Other members of the reconstituted LASU Governing Council include Mr Oluseyi Badmus, Mr Bode Makanjuola, Mrs Mojisola Tolagbe Taiwo, Prof. Shaffudeen Amuwo, Alhaji Rafiu Adisa Ebiti (FCA), Ms Kofo Durosimi-Etti, Dr Farouk Gumel, Mrs Adenike Akanbi (FCA), Mr Biodun Hundeyin, and Dr Remi Desalu.

The Head of Service, Agoro, said the move aligns with the governor’s ongoing reforms to enhance governance, security, and education in Lagos State.

Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, a seasoned entrepreneur, innovative security expert, public administrator, and educationist, is no stranger to the operations of the LSSTF. Until his appointment, he served as a member of the LSSTF Board of Trustees, where he contributed significantly to several landmark initiatives that bolstered security in the state. Known for his deep passion for service and security innovation, Dr. Ogunsan has consistently championed public-private partnerships that have enhanced the effectiveness of security agencies across Lagos.

His elevation to the role of Executive Secretary/CEO is widely seen as a strategic decision by the administration of Gov. Olusola Sanwo-Olu to sustain the state’s remarkable security gains. Dr. Ogunsan’s blend of experience in governance, security management, and corporate leadership is expected to inject fresh energy into the Trust Fund, ensuring continued support for the police and other security outfits operating within Lagos.

The Governor also extended heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun, the outgoing Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, for his exceptional service and invaluable contributions. He thanked him ‘for his formidable and invaluable contributions to the development and achievements of the Security Trust Fund, while wishing him the very best in his future endeavors.’

To Dr. Balogun’s credit, he played an instrumental role in engineering the success that LSSTF has achieved today. He was initially a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly that passed the bill for the establishment of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. He then stepped forward to serve for over 10 years, marking a remarkable period as the Fund’s top official.
