Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA eliminated several bandits during a intense clash in Sabon Garin Kwargaba village, Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on October 7 at approximately 11:30 p.m.
According to sources, a large group of heavily armed bandits stormed the village, firing indiscriminately. Troops stationed at the nearby Forward Operating Base (FOB) quickly mobilized, engaging the attackers in a prolonged gunfight.
The bandits were forced to retreat into the forest, suffering significant losses.“Several bandits were neutralized, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
Tragically, one soldier and a local woman lost their lives,” a source reported.One injured soldier was promptly evacuated to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto and is receiving treatment.
Additional military reinforcements have been deployed to secure the area and prevent further attacks.An ongoing bush combing operation aims to track down the fleeing bandits and ensure lasting peace in the region, sources confirmed.
