Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has opened up about her relationship status, explaining why she chose not to marry the father of her daughter despite their close bond and mutual respect.
In a candid conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the award-winning artiste described her decision as a personal and “technical” choice, emphasizing that marriage was not part of their current plans.
According to Seyi Shay, their relationship remains healthy and grounded in friendship and shared parenting values. “He’s great, he’s cool, he’s around. He’s Nigerian, currently in the UK, and works in the music industry on the corporate side,” she shared, noting that they work closely together to raise their daughter.
The singer highlighted that mutual respect and understanding have been key to maintaining peace and balance in their co-parenting arrangement, which she described as both supportive and fulfilling.
Reflecting on motherhood since welcoming her daughter in 2022, Seyi Shay said the experience has deeply reshaped her outlook on life, relationships, and career. She revealed that becoming a mother has made her more intentional about her priorities, inspiring her to focus on love, growth, and purpose rather than societal pressures.
