South-Africa: Shebeshxt denied bail, set to spend festive season in jail after court ruling

Limpopo-based Lekompo star Shebeshxt has suffered a major legal setback after the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court denied his bail application, effectively keeping him behind bars through the festive season.

The controversial hitmaker, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, appeared in court on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, to hear the outcome of his bail bid following his arrest in November over a road rage incident linked to attempted murder charges.

After days of arguments from both the defence and the state, the magistrate ruled against granting him bail.

As a result, the Ambulance hitmaker will remain in custody until his next scheduled court appearance in February 2026.

Footage of Shebeshxt in court quickly made its way onto social media, with an online user sharing a clip of the moment the decision was delivered.

The post sparked a wave of reactions from fans and critics alike, many expressing shock and disappointment that the musician would be spending Christmas and New Year’s behind bars.
