One serious condition linked to unusual sweating is hyperthyroidism—a disorder where the thyroid gland produces too much hormone.

This speeds up the body’s metabolism, leading to symptoms like excessive sweating, weight loss, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, and irritability. If you’re sweating a lot without physical activity or heat, especially at night, this could be a clue.

Another concern is diabetes. People with fluctuating blood sugar levels may experience episodes of sudden, heavy sweating, often as a sign of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Left unchecked, this can be dangerous and lead to unconsciousness or even coma.
