November 17, (THEWILL) — The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Kizito Bonzena, along with 15 other members of the House elected on the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The others include Deputy Speaker, Hamman Adama Abdullai (Bali 2 Constituency); Majority Leader, Jethro Yakubu (Wukari 1 Constituency); Tafarki Eneme (Kurmi Constituency); Akila Nuhu (Lau Constituency); Musa Chul (Gassol 1 Constituency); Josiah Yaro (Wukari 2 Constituency); Tanko Yusuf (Takum 1 Constituency), Veronica Alhassan (Bali 1 Constituency), Anas Shuaibu (Karim Lamido 2 Constituency), Nelson Len (Nguroje Constituency), Umar Adamu (Jalingo 1 Constituency), Joseph Kassong (Yorro Constituency), John Lamba (Takum 2 Constituency), Happy Shonruba (Ardo-Kola Constituency) and Zakari Sanusi (Ibi Constituency).
The move, THEWILL reports is in preparation of the official defection of Governor Agbu Kefas, to the ruling APC.
The Taraba governor had confirmed the story of his planned defection, first reported by THEWILL in its September 28, 2025 edition, titled, “Quake in PDP: 4 More Govs to Dump Party for APC as Jonathan Seeks Alliance with ADC in Comeback Bid”, when he hinted at his imminent departure from the PDP to APC during a meeting with APC and PDP stakeholders at the Banquet Hall of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.
Speaking on Monday, the speaker, who attributed the move to the factionalisation of the PDP at the national level, clarified that the decision is not personal but for the collective interest of the state.
“Our people should not misinterpret this decision of ours. It is for the interest of the state. We now have all 24 members of the House as APC members. We also want the people of Taraba to see this as the best decision for the state, and they should continue to support the government”, he said.
