President Bola Tinubu touched down in Owerri on Tuesday for a focused one-day visit, marking the official inauguration of several critical infrastructure projects spearheaded by Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration.

Arriving at precisely 12:52 p.m. via the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, the president led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly completed Assumpta Flyover, a pivotal development aimed at easing traffic congestion in the state capital.

In addition to the flyover, President Tinubu also commissioned the reconstructed 60-kilometer dual carriageway connecting Owerri, Mbaise, and Umuahia, as well as the impressive Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, a state-of-the-art facility with a seating capacity of 6,000.

Speaking at the event, the president expressed optimism about the projects, noting, “These developments symbolize a new chapter of progress and connectivity for Imo State and Nigeria at large.”

The day’s activities further included the public launch of Governor Uzodinma’s latest book titled “ _A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria,”_ which chronicles Nigeria’s democratic evolution and achievements under the All Progressives Congress over the past ten years.

Ahead of the presidential visit, the Imo State Government, through Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Investment Rex Anunobi, ordered the closure of eight major markets within Owerri.

The directive was intended to encourage traders and residents to come together in welcoming the president.

As Anunobi stated, “The State Government requests that all traders come out en masse to receive the president,” emphasizing the importance of unity and civic participation during the event.

Overall, the visit highlighted a blend of infrastructural progress and political engagement, marking a significant milestone in Imo State’s development trajectory.
