President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Doro from Plateau State to serve as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who also disclosed that Doro’s name has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
Dr.Bernard Doro’s nomination follows the promotion of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who became the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
According to sources within the Presidency,Tinubu had informed his aides during a private meeting on Monday evening of his plan to fill two vacant ministerial positions, including that of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who resigned recently.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro has over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, leadership, and community development, both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Onanuga stated that Dr. Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA focused on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
“He is an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with NHS frontline experience across urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospital settings,” the statement read.
He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), having worked in urgent care centers, GP practices, and hospitals.
Apart from his medical career, Dr. Doro is known for his involvement in youth mentorship and social impact programs within Nigerian and diaspora communities.
If approved by the Senate, Bernard Doro will be officially sworn in as a member of President Tinubu’s cabinet during a Federal Executive Council meeting.
