Tinubu’s Two-Year Achievements Outshines PDP’s Eight-Year Record, Says Bwala

Daniel Bwala, President Tinubu’s special adviser on media has declared that the current administration’s accomplishments in just two years have surpassed the achievements of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during its eight-year governance from 1999 to 2007. 

In a post shared on X, Bwala highlighted Tinubu’s leadership in tackling complex economic and security challenges, contrasting them with the relatively favorable conditions the PDP enjoyed post-military rule.

Bwala pointed out that from 1999 to 2007, Nigeria benefited from significant foreign debt forgiveness, robust oil production described as a “miracle,” and global goodwill as the nation emerged from military rule. 

In contrast, President Tinubu has faced the burden of servicing foreign debts, declining oil output, and the absence of the international “freebies” that characterized the PDP era. 

Despite these hurdles, Bwala commended Tinubu for proving his mettle economically, stating, “He is confronted with the challenge of having to prove himself, and he did with the economy.”

On security, Bwala argued that the PDP’s mismanagement contributed to the emergence of Boko Haram and heightened insecurity. 

He praised Tinubu for degrading insecurity within two years, noting, “We can see the path to ending it.” 

Bwala also lauded Tinubu’s decisive approach to long-standing economic issues, which he claimed previous administrations avoided. 

“The mismanaged resources that led to the decadence of the economy left successive presidents fearful in taking the tough decision necessary to address it frontally. 

PBAT took the bullet, made the decision, and our economy is safely recovering now,” he wrote.Quoting President Tinubu, Bwala emphasized, “The hallmark of a true leader is in his ability to take courageous decision at the right time.” 

The statement has sparked mixed reactions on the social media space, with some users applauding Tinubu’s bold reforms, while others highlighted ongoing economic and security challenges.
