Afrobeats sensation, Tiwa Savage has opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs.
Speaking in an interview with British-Nigerian media personality ZeZe Mills, the award-winning singer revealed that it was a personal step toward securing her reproductive future.
She further explained that while she is unsure if she wants more children, the decision to freeze her eggs was about having the freedom and flexibility to make that choice later.
The mother of one described egg freezing as a form of insurance, acknowledging the biological reality that female fertility declines with age. She added:
“I don’t know if I want more kids, but I decided to freeze my eggs just in case. You never really know what the future holds, so why not prepare for it?”
The 45-year-old entertainer, who gave birth to her son at age 34, said motherhood at that stage of her life felt right.
She said she felt more emotionally grounded and financially secure, which made the experience more fulfilling.
Reflecting on that journey, she now encourages other women in their 30s to consider egg freezing not necessarily because they must have children, but to preserve the option while their egg reserves are still strong. She added:

“One piece of advice I would give to women in their 30s is this: whether you want kids or not, consider egg freezing. I honestly wish I had done it earlier.”
Tiwa went on to highlight the fact that many women are unaware of how quickly their fertility can decline. She said:
“You could wake up one day at 36 or 37 and find out your egg reserve is depleted. That might be the point when you finally decide you want to have kids. So for me, egg freezing is a way of securing that choice before it’s too late.”
