Livespot is launching Detty December Fest this month with support from the Nigerian government. Ahead of the event, Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture & the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, shared a message highlighting the partnership’s significance for the country’s creative sector.
“In line with our commitment to position Nigeria as Africa’s leading cultural and entertainment destination, the federal government of Nigeria will be partnering with Livespot on Detty December Fest,” Musawa said. “Together, we are moving Detty December from social trend to a structured national asset.”
The minister outlined the partnership’s goals, which include showcasing Nigerian and African talent on a world-class stage and supporting SMEs and creative businesses across various sectors, from vendors to production teams to fashion, food, and hospitality. She also noted that the government will work with relevant MDAs to improve safety, mobility, and the overall visitor experience so that Nigerians, the diaspora, and international guests can enjoy the festive season with confidence.
Musawa emphasized that the Entertainment, Arts and Creative Economy Ministry (EWA) will continue to serve as a thinking and planning hub for the creative economy, with Detty December Fest being a platform where ideas become real opportunities, real jobs, and real experiences.
“To our creative economy, this partnership is for you,” she said. “To our private sector partnerships, we invite you to plug in and co-invest. To our international friends, Nigeria is open for collaboration and cultural exchanges.”
