Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kano State has reported a devastating lone accident that claimed 12 lives and left five others injured.
According to FRSC Sector Commander Muhammed Bature, the incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on Friday at Samawa Village, along the Zaria–Kano highway in Garun Malam Local Government Area.
The accident involved a DAF CF95 trailer, registered as KMC 931 ZE, which was carrying goods.
Bature explained, “The trailer’s cab detached from its body due to a mechanical failure in the cab hook, causing the driver to lose control and crash.”
Out of the 19 individuals involved, 12 perished, five sustained injuries, and two escaped unharmed.
“The deceased were taken to Nassarawa Hospital, while the injured were rushed to Kura General Hospital for treatment,” Bature stated in a press release.
He urged drivers to avoid speeding and reckless behavior, emphasizing, “Such preventable tragedies endanger lives and property. We must prioritize road safety.”
