Troops Arrest Three Armed Suspects In Benue (Photos)

Acting Media Information Officer, HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, October 6, 2025.

Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested three suspected criminals found in possession of firearms in Ohimini Local Government Area, Benue State.

Acting Media Information Officer, HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, October 6, 2025.

 

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, November 5, by troops on routine patrol along the Otukpo–Enugu Road at the Amoda axis of the LGA. 

 

“Troops of Sector 1 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have continued to intensify efforts to rid Benue State and adjoining areas of criminal elements threatening peace and stability. On 05 November 2025, troops on routine patrol along Otukpo–Enugu Road at Amoda Axis in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State arrested three suspected criminals found in possession of a locally made pistol and one cartridge,” the statement read.

 

“The suspects, identified as John Isaac (22 years), Baba Emmanuel (17 years), and Sunday Thomas (19 years) all residents of Otukpo Local Government Area were stopped for a search based on intelligence while riding a motorcycle.

 

“Sequel to the search, the troops recovered three mobile phones and the sum of N20,200 from the suspects. 

 

“Preliminary investigation suggests that the suspects were on their way to carry out a criminal act before they were intercepted by the vigilant troops. The suspects are currently in custody for further investigation and necessary actions.

 

“The Force Commander, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, has commended the troops for their professional conduct and robust response in countering the threat before it is actualized.
