Troops neutralise 3 terrorists, seize weapons

Troops under Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, have eliminated three Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters during an extensive clearance mission in Borno State.

According to security sources cited by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the troops advanced deep into the Bulabulin forest axis toward Magumeri, where they engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle around the Borno Yesu area.

The sources revealed that the operation benefited from air support provided by OPHK’s air component, which offered surveillance and close coordination that helped ground forces overpower the terrorists’ position.

“At the end of the encounter, three terrorists were neutralised. Troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, four fully loaded magazines, 120 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, grenades, two bandoliers, combat packs, and two brand new motorcycles.

“The Special Forces Tactical Team continues to dominate the general area while projecting force further to make additional contact, disrupt terrorist logistics, and rob them of freedom of action,” the source said.

The source added that the troops remain in high spirits and combat-ready as clearance operations press on.
