Truck rams into Suleja mosque, traps worshippers [PICS]

Tragedy struck in Suleja, Niger State on Tuesday as a trailer conveying powdered milk rammed into a mosque building, leaving at least three people trapped and injured.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the incident, which occurred around 6am, happened shortly after morning prayers, when many of the worshippers had left the mosque.

According to eyewitnesses, the trailer fell on the back section of the mosque where women and children pray, resulting in the entrapment of three people, including a child, who subsequently sustained injuries.

The fallen vehicle caused a commotion on the ever-busy Biba Road close to the popular Babangida Market, with sympathisers seen around the scene.

Sources reveal that the trailer fell down while trying to navigate a narrow part of the road that was blocked by a heap of sand being used for the construction of new shops.

A resident, Baba Maiunguwa, confirmed that the injured victims had been rushed to the Suleja General Hospital for treatment.

He said, ”The accident happened after Subh (early morning prayer). Three people have been taken away to hospital including a child. Alhamdulillah, there was no death.

“We are lucky that, people have left the Mosque after the prayer. It would have been bad, because the Mosque was filled up during the prayers”.
