UCL: Osimhen stuns Liverpool, Lookman returns, as Chelsea beat Mourinho’s Benfica

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen scored the winning goal for Galatasaray against Liverpool in a Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

The Nigeria international converted from the spotkick in the 16th minute as his side held on to beat the Premier League side 1-0.

Osimhen gave Galatasaray the lead when French referee Clement Turpin adjudged that Dominik Szoboszlai had fouled Baris Alper Yilmaz.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson went off injured in the second half after pulling off a superb save from Osimhen, who went on to create chances but failed to add to his tally.

Coach Arne Slot introduced Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak just after the hour mark in an attempt to salvage something but it was to no avail.

Elsewhere, reigning African best player, Ademola Lookman made a return for Atalanta and helped his side defeat Club Brugge 2-1.

At Stamford Bridge, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho made a return to his former club as he led Benfica to a 1-0 defeat against the Blues.

Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for Real Madrid in their 5-0 victory over Kairat. He has now reached 60 Champions League goals.

Inter Milan also put up a fine performance at the San Siro as they clinched a 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague.

In the other Champions League games played concurrently, Atletico Madrid thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1, Marseille beat Ajax 4-0, Pafos lose 5-1 to Bayern Munich, while Tottenham and Bodo/Glimt 2-2.
