UCL Playoffs: Osimhen helps Galatasaray beat Juve, Benfica lose to Real Madrid

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen bagged two assists as he helped Galatasaray hammer Serie A Juventus 5-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League playoffs.

Galatasaray are scoring five goals in a Champions League game for the very first time.

The hosts trailed 2-1 at half-time but produced a superb fightback to lead 3-2 by the hour mark through goals from Noa Lang and Davinson Sanchez.

Juve’s Juan Cabal received a second yellow card just 21 minutes after his introduction to leave Juventus a goal and a man down. The Turkish champions were then relentless as they made their numerical advantage count.

In Portugal, Benfica and Real Madrid played out a slim difference in a thrilling match marred by racist accusations and lengthy delay.

The knockout phase play-off saw Real Madrid win by 1-0 courtesy of a 50th-minute effort by Vinicius Junior, who reported alleged racist abuse late in as he and his team-mates left the field.

Following an interaction with Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni, Vinicius ran over to the centre referee before walking off the pitch and was followed by his team-mates, but play restarted 10 minutes later.

Elsewhere, Ligue 1 giants Monaco and Paris Saint Germain produced a thrilling five-goal match in the first leg of their tie.

The game played at home to Monaco saw PSG take a 3-2 lead ahead of the second leg billed for next week.

For Dortmund, they secured a 2-0 lead against Atalanta into the second leg.

The return legs of the ties will take place on Wednesday, 25th February.
