Update: Man arrested for allegedly be@ting his wife four days after welcoming their baby arraigned in court

The police in Lagos state on Monday, August 4, arraigned a yet-to-be-identified man  who was arrested last week for allegedly be@ting his wife four days after she welcomed their baby.

Actress Omosalewa Fafowora shared the video showing the moment police officers arrived the home of the couple and arrested the alleged abuser. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexu@l V!olence Agency confirmed the incident and said the suspect has been arrested.

In an update given today August 7, the agency said the suspect was arraigned on Monday, August 4 and that the matter has been adjourned till August 11. The agency says the suspect is still in custody until the next court hearing.

Further to our previous communication regarding the case of a woman who was allegedly beaten by her husband and left in critical condition just days after childbirth, we would like to inform the public that the alleged perpetrator was arraigned on Monday, August 4th, 2025, before Magistrate Mobolaji O. Tanimola of the Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba.

The individual was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on assault occasioning harm and conduct likely to cause breach of peace, contrary to Sections 170 and 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The case has been adjourned to August 11th, 2025, and the alleged perpetrator remains in custody as the legal process continues.

The Lagos State Government, through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), reiterates its ZERO tolerance for all forms of abuse and unwavering commitment to ensuring that survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence receive justice, protection, and holistic support.
