A family source has reacted to the pre-wedding pictures of a Benue couple that sparked debate online over their obvious age gap, with many people claiming the bride-to-be is underaged while others suggested she’s baby-faced.
The family source confirmed that the Benue bride-to-be, Angel, is 16 years old and had written her SSCE examinations this year.
Angel and Michael’s pre-wedding photos had generated mixed reactions online after a Benue activist, Zeke Orkwande, who is from the community, shared the photos in a Facebook post on Monday, asking for confirmation of the girl’s age.
According to the activist, a close relative to the groom who confirmed Angel’s age, claimed that the teenage girl made the decision to marry Michael because she wasn’t sure if her aunt will continue to sponsor her education.

“Good evening my people. A close relative to Michael chatted me that Angel is 16yrs. She just finished writing her SSCE exams.
That she’s staying with her aunty but not sure if the aunty can sponsor her in school again because of her condition. She took decision to marry Michael out of the fear of unknown.
Sincerely, the girl is underaged. How I wish she continue her school to understand what marriage is before getting into it. CONGRATULATIONS Angel Michael.”
