Utah Governor Identifies Tyler Robinson As Suspect Arrested For Killing Charlie Kirk

Utah’s governor, Spencer Cox, has confirmed that 33-year-old Tyler Robinson has been arrested as the prime suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The arrest followed a nationwide manhunt that ended when one of Robinson’s relatives alerted a family friend, who then informed the police.

Charlie Kirk, a well-known figure on the American right, was shot by a single bullet in the neck while speaking to students at Utah Valley University in Orem on Wednesday.

Governor Cox announced the arrest of Tyler Robinson at a press briefing, declaring, “We got him.”

Investigators said the motive remains unclear, but noted that some of the unused bullet casings recovered at the scene carried anti-fascist slogans and symbols.

One was marked “Hey, fascist! Catch!” while another carried “Bella Ciao,” apparently a reference to a World War II-era Italian anti-fascist song.

The weapon used, a high-powered hunting rifle, was quickly recovered, but it took more than 30 hours before authorities tracked down Robinson.

During that time, police mistakenly detained two unrelated suspects before releasing them.

After the FBI confirmed Robinson’s capture on Thursday night, Governor Cox revealed that the suspect’s own family provided the lead that helped close in on him.

“On the evening of September 11th, a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend, who contacted the Washington County sheriff’s office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident, ” he said.

Kirk’s killing has further fueled tensions in an already polarized America. While many critics had long opposed his fiery rhetoric on race, gender, and immigration, they still condemned his violent death. Supporters, meanwhile, hailed him as a political martyr.

Tributes poured in nationwide with hundreds of people attending a candlelight vigil in Orem, many wearing red MAGA caps and waving American flags.

President Donald Trump, who credited Kirk with mobilizing young voters during last year’s election, ordered flags flown at half-mast and promised to attend his funeral. He also called for the death penalty for the suspect.

In a symbolic gesture, Kirk’s coffin was flown to Phoenix aboard Vice President JD Vance’s official plane, with footage showing Vance resting his hand on the casket as it was carried aboard.

Charlie Kirk rose to prominence in 2012 after co-founding Turning Point USA, a conservative youth group.

With a sharp stage presence and large followings on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, he became a key voice on the far right, promoting gun rights, strict immigration policies, and Christianity through viral clips and campus debates.

KanyiDaily also reported how President Donald Trump was escorted off the stage at his rally in Pennsylvania after being shot in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania.
