Walter Feghabo left an exemplary footprint

The late former military administrator of Ebonyi and Delta states in the 1990s, Navy Captain Walter Feghabo, has been described as an officer who left an exemplary footprint in the country.

The Bayelsa State governor, Duoye Diri, in a condolence message, also eulogised the virtues of the illustrious son of the state.

Diri stated that Feghabo was a disciplined officer and a great patriot who left, aged 67, at a time his services were still required by the state and the country.

Feghabo was noted for his traditional chieftaincy title of Amain in Nembe Kingdom, and his community service.

He was re-assigned to Delta State in 1998 till the country’s return to democratic rule in May 1999.

Walter Feghabo was born on August 15, 1956 in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. He grew up in Warri and attended primary and secondary schools in the city.

After serving as the first military administrator of Ebonyi State from October 1996 to October 1998, he was also appointed the administrator of Delta State in August 1998 during the transitional government of General Abdulsalam Abubakar. He later handed over to the civilian government of James Ibori on May 29, 1999.  

In June 1999, all the former military administrators in the Abacha and Abubakar regimes were retired by the Federal Government of Nigeria, including Feghabo. He returned to his native Bayelsa State.
